Yesterday around noonish, my Hub and I decided to put together a 4th of July shin-dig. We decided to serve dogs and burgers. I also made a big pasta salad mixed with fresh veggies, and baked beans in the crock pot.
Everyone showed up around 7:30pm.
* Every picture you see on this post was taken by my sister using my camera.
Michael perfectly cooked the hot dogs and burgers.
We usually go to Claremore Lake and watch the fireworks display. But this year, we decided to avoid the crowds and traffic and stay at home. We moved our cars out of the driveway and had our celebration right in the garage. This worked out great for Tater because he wasn’t confined to the house. He could run and play, be messy, and just be Tater. In these photos, he’s in the back of a little trailer we use to haul wood.
Those maters are fresh from my sister’s garden. All the food was pretty darn tasty.
By the time everyone got here and the food was served, Clay was starved to death.
Paula and Katie.
While our festivities were going on, Claremore police stopped a car in front of our house. The man was arrested and his car towed. We were all amazed. Penny took pictures.
Tater liked the “unlimited soda pop” policy that was in place last night. He took advantage. I lost count after his 4th can.
Michael bought $9.00 worth of fireworks that were “small child” friendly. They had $100.00 worth of fun. And…priceless memories were made.
Tater preferred to watch.
Tater did light one smoke bomb. His brother jerked him away after it ignited.
Michael became Tater’s hero after the first smoke bomb.
Chance loves his dog.
Mike and Joan.
Here’s a view from inside my garage.
The sparklers were a little too much fire and smoke for Tater. This was the first and last one he held.
Spud was all about the fireworks last night.
I love this picture. Michael was a party animal last night.
The only family member not in attendance last night was Morgan. We missed him.
The evening ended with us sitting around the radio singing music from the 80’s. Zach, Cristin, and Spud showed us their dance moves. And then…someone (Michael) started a water fight. Everyone got soaked…and then went home.
My family is pretty amazing. I’m lucky to have them all.
Happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans.
